This position is located in Indian Health Service. The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and patient care support for optometry services by assisting with non-diagnostic clinical support activities, patient preparation, optical dispensing support, documentation, and service operations, in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional practice standards. Assists during examinations and treatments by supporting patient flow, preparing examination areas, setting up equipment and supplies, and performing delegated support tasks under supervision. Cleans, prepares, and maintains optometry instruments and equipment by following approved cleaning, disinfection, calibration, and maintenance procedures to ensure readiness for use.
Assists with scheduling, rescheduling, and coordination of appointments using authorized systems and processes, and communicates appointment-related information to patients and clinical staff as required. Provides approved educational materials and information to patients and families regarding eye health, vision care, eyewear use, and post-examination self-care, in support of the supervisor or higher- level personnel direction and established educational guidance.
