This position is located within the Optometry Clinic at the Albuquerque Service Unit, located in beautiful Albuquerque, NM. This position will support the Optometry Clinic by performing a variety of routine and established ophthalmic technical support. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Health Technician Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Receives patients for Optometry appointments and prepares them for examination, including retrieving patient information, and relevant medical history. Performs routine vision screening and auxiliary testing including visual acuity testing, lensometry, color vision resting and depth perception screening.
Assist the provider during patient examinations by preparing equipment, positioning patients, obtaining supplies and entering information as directed. Provides routing instructions to patients and assist patients with basic contact lens and eyeglass handling. Assist with scheduling and coordination of follow-up appointments and assist with vision screening in schools.
