This Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) position is in the Primary Care service within the VA Providence Healthcare System and located at the Community-Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Middletown, Rhode Island and New Bedford, Massachusetts. The position is permanent and full-time at 40 hours per week and will require travel between the two CBOCs.
The Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) provides high-level support, training and advanced management of telehealth operations and is typically stationed at a clinical care delivery site (CBOC) with duties that will require travel.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides direct patient care and supports telehealth care within and across VA facilities including TeleDermatology, TeleOpthomology, TeleCardiology and TeleWound care in an effort to expand specialty care from VA hospitals into the CBOC locations; Serves as patient-facing technician for Veterans seeking synchronous and asynchronous care across the agency; Assists with remote monitoring technologies such as digital photography, EKG placement, diabetic foot and eye exams and current technology tools such as wound measurement and ClearSteth; Supports established telehealth competency-based training for CBOC staff; Supports clinical telehealth encounters for both the patient and provider locations by serving as the tele-presenter within scope of practice; Functions as an imager and supporting clinical data for telehealth store and forward applications; Manages real-time clinical telehealth events, providing established patient education and technical and administrative support of telehealth operations; Evaluates telehealth operations and supporting performance improvement efforts; Provides technical support to end-users; Utilizes VA scheduling technology and consult tracking to schedule simple and complex intra-facility and inter-facility telehealth appointments; Installs, configures, maintains and troubleshoots technology; Performs a variety of program support duties; and Performs other duties as assigned.

When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

This position is covered by locality-based comparability pay. Due to a critical staffing shortage, 38 U.S.C. § 7412 waives the requirement to apply Veterans' preference for this job announcement.
