The primary purpose of the Health Technician position is to perform various routine and non-routine patient care activities, procedures, and tasks. The incumbent functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team in a clinical setting and functions day-to-day under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and reports to the Nurse Manager in the assigned clinical area for administrative and overall technical supervision.
Major duties include, but are not limited to: Preparing a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of clinic operations. Clerical and technical support to the Medical and Nursing staff. Ongoing monitoring of vital signs, performing testing for blood glucose monitoring, arranging and passing medical instruments and materials to medical/nursing professionals for a variety of tests and procedures. Teaching patients and family members the necessity to follow medical staff instruction for proper health care. Stocking supplies in exam rooms. Ordering and maintaining supplies for unit. Transporting specimens and reusable medical equipment to specified location. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0730-1600 Telework: This position may be authorized for ad-hoc telework.
