The Wilmington VA Medical Center is recruiting to fill one (1) Health Technician vacancy. The Health Technician will function in Patient Care Services.
The Health Technician (HT) possess the education and skills required to offer both clinical and clerical support for adult and geriatric veterans. The HT performs all duties under the direction of the RN. The HT may be assigned clinical and non-clinical duties.
Duties of a Health Technician include but are not limited to: Ability to implement a full range of patient care to patients/residents with physical and/or behavioral problems in a hospital, long-term care, or outpatient setting. Examples include: tube feeding, tracheostomy care and suction, straight catheterizations, care of patients with complex medical and behavioral diagnoses, etc.
Demonstrates appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, interdisciplinary team, and other personnel. Ability to recognize and react to emergent patient care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance. Provides patient-centered care that is appropriate to the cognitive, physical, emotional, and age-related development needs of the adult/geriatric patient.
Performs a range of diagnostic support duties which include taking, recording, and reporting of patients' vital signs, including deviations. Work Schedule: Week 1 - Three (3) 12-hour shifts and Week 2 - Three (3) 12-hour shifts and one (1) 8-hour shift. 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. *Including rotating weekends and holidays Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
