Job Summary
You will serve as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic. This position is also open to status candidates under announcement CAHM-26-13059216-ST-AKS. You must apply to each announcement separately if you wish to be considered under both recruitment methods.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Overhauls, repairs, services and maintains heavy equipment such as bulldozers, graders, snowblowers, 10-yard dump trucks, loaders and other construction equipment including screen plants and crushers Provides preventative maintenance of heavy equipment and vehicles in accordance with manufactures standards, park and GSA policies.
Welding repairs on plows, blades, and structural members and fabricating parts from raw stock. Troubleshooting causes of mechanical problems and making repairs. Incidental to mechanic work the incumbent must operate mobile equipment such as frontend loaders, trucks, graders, bulldozers, and dump trucks. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis. You will work for approximately 11 months in pay status and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
