The primary purpose of the position is to assist the Fisher House Manager in providing temporary lodging - a "home away from home" - to family members of patients being treated at the Kansas City VA Healthcare System by participating in the direct, on-site management and administration of the Fisher House program.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Serves as the KCVAMC Assistant Fisher House Manager (AFHM) and is responsible for assisting in the on-site management, planning, operation, and administrative coordination of the multi-phased lodging program. Skilled in gathering information, organizing and maintaining information or information management systems. Assists in the development and update of informational bulletins, brochures and resident packets. Knowledge of general business/lodging management principles and practices to participate in the development, establishment, and implementation of operational policies. Skill in developing information and communication for use on multiple platforms within and outside Fisher House. Knowledge of VA Web communications policies, guidelines, templates and other graphic publication tools relevant to the social media environment within a VA health care setting.
