Job Summary
The position is located at the U.S. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary (OST), Departmental Office of Human Resource Management (DOHRM), Human Resource Operations (M-16). You will serve as a senior expert providing technical guidance to managers and HR staff advisories based on OPM classification standards and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
As a Human Resources Specialist (Classification), you will: Provide advisory services to the Office of the Secretary (OST) on complex position management issues, including controversial mixed-series/mixed-grade roles and interdisciplinary fields. Conduct desk audits, validate Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) coding, and prepare formal evaluation statements.
Collaborate with management during the formative stages of organizational design, recommending courses of action rooted in sound position management principles. Evaluate OST Position Management programs through data collection and periodic reviews. The ideal candidate will possess experience as a strategic influencer with the ability to effectively advise hiring managers gaining their concurrence and acceptance on classification outcomes.
