The Informatics position is characterized as a specialty that integrates nurs??ng science, computer science, and information science to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical/nursing practice through integrated programs that cross service/discipline lines to influence the organizational mission for health care.
Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties: Exercises leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of hardware and software applications integrated with the electronic health record (EHR) and associated programs/applications. Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network.
Work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility, Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN), or Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO), illustrating performance and leadership that benefit the facility.
Responsible for the coordination of Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) and other clinical application installations, testing, and maintenance; assisting BCMA duties; planning, coordinating, implementing, and participating in center-wide training programs to ensure CPRS and other clinical applications are initiated and maintained according to the Medical Center direction and VISN guidelines; facilitates the implementation and utilization of appropriate applications - interfaces and tools to transition to the automated clinical record by all direct and indirect patient care providers at all levels; knowledge of provider and clinical workflow, works to streamline these processes and increase efficiency; executes position and responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches in the management of complex patient care.
