The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) performs ongoing patient care duties in the Emergency Department of the Atlanta VA Health Care System as a part of Nursing and Patient Care Service.
Major duties include but are not limited to: Performs tasks in preparing patients for exams. Measures and records weight and height and obtains specimens for routine testing. Checks the emergency room daily and records the inspection on the log. Cleans and dresses wounds after a surgical procedure. Assists in behavioral/psychiatric situations to include crisis intervention, management of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients, and one-to-one observations. Assists Emergency Department Physicians with complex, specialized, and potentially life threatening procedures such as defibrillation, cardioversion, or initiation of mechanical ventilation to restore normal physiological function or prevent deterioration of patient's condition. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm. Work schedule is subject to change based on agency needs. Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
