Job Summary

This position serves as an Inventory Management Specialist in the Logistics Service at the Northport VA Medical Center. The incumbent manages the inventory and lifecycle of non-expendable equipment, including acquisition planning, accountability, physical inventories, reutilization, and disposal. The position analyzes equipment needs, maintains accurate property records, and coordinates with stakeholders to support patient care and facility operations.

Key Responsibilities

This position serves as a Property Manager in the Material Management Division of the Logistics Service in the VA Health Care System responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all non-expendable (NX) equipment in the assigned area(s).

Major duties and responsibilities include: Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the lifecycle management of non-expendable assets; conducts short, mid and long-term advanced planning; analyzes data; supports customers and acquisition personnel in developing requirements, utilizing mandatory sources and standardization sources; and corresponds with procurement officials and other stakeholders to resolve issues Inventory Management and Control: Responsible for the management and control of NX equipment assets; serves as the point of contact for the coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems; conducts forecasting and quantitative analysis; conducts spot checks; and complies with special requirements for firearms, ammunition and sensitive equipment Performs other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Experience: Experience managing equipment throughout its lifecycle, maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating with internal teams, resolving asset tracking issues, supporting procurement activities, and improving supply and equipment management processes. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.

Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
