This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations, Investigations Branch. Resumes must be no more than 2-pages in length. Duty location will be at a current OIG Regional or Field Office upon selection. The salary for this position will be adjusted based on the duty location.
Duties included at the GS-11/12 but are not limited to: Serves as an investigative analyst providing support with respect to the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of OI management information systems, including all its sub-systems, production, and distribution of manual that describes in layman's terms all aspects of the system.
Conducts investigative analysis in support of complex health care fraud investigations, including reviewing complaint allegations, synthesizing program and claims data, identifying fraud, waste, and abuse trends, and providing analytic findings that inform investigative strategy and decision-making. Preparing reports and other documents relating to special projects and analysis focused on FIRST requests.
Utilizing a computerized system that analyzes and displays geographically referenced and publicly available information; employing software products for financial analysis related to multifaceted investigations; and the analysis and visualization of healthcare claims data. Supports the operation, maintenance, and enhancement of OI management information systems, recognizes and recommends improvements for system deficiencies or vulnerabilities, and develops user guides.
Revises administrative and procedural guidelines, ensures consistency in management and administration nationwide, and coordinates policies with OI, OIG, DHHS, and other agencies. Facilitates participation between federal, state, and local agencies in projects where programs interrelate or overlap, arranging for OI's involvement in health and welfare initiatives.
Develops content for inclusion in testimony and speeches presented by the Inspector General and prepares briefing materials for managers. Manages user access, coordinates training, resets passwords, and provides administrative oversight to ensure effective use of investigative research systems. Processes OI-related Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
