Job Summary

This vacancy is for a GS-2210-11/12/13, IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Applications Software/SYSADMIN) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Coast Guard National Response Center (CG-NRC) in Washington, District of Columbia.

Key Responsibilities

You will serve as a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Applications Software/SYSADMIN) and be responsible for supporting the NRC's mission through system and database administration, cybersecurity operations, and application/software development, including Appian low-code/no-code platforms. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Performing requirements analysis with NRC users, Watch Standers, stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and technical personnel to define business and technical requirements for new or significantly enhanced Appian applications, workflows, records, forms, reports, process models, interfaces, and related platform components.

Integrating Appian applications with existing NRC databases, reporting functions, data flows, system interfaces, and other approved tools to support incident reporting, stakeholder notification, business process automation, and mission support functions.

Developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating cybersecurity procedures, technical controls, local implementation guidance, and operational practices to support the confidentiality, integrity, availability, reliability, and resilience of NRC information systems and data.

Conducting in-depth analyses of unfamiliar or complex IT conditions, problems, or issues involving cross-platform integration, data integrity, application performance, cybersecurity controls, reporting requirements, user access, and operational continuity.

This position does not have a positive education requirement.
