This position is located in Region Four, Recovery Division. The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical, writing, and coordination skills, ensuring accuracy in preparing executive-level materials while managing complex, time-sensitive processes and supporting partners.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Lead Emergency Management Specialist (Recovery). Typical assignments include: Processing major disaster and emergency declaration requests and post-declaration actions in accordance with law, regulations, policy, and procedures.
Monitoring immediate and developing situations, collecting real-time information, and compiling incident data for decision-makers, including obtaining official event statements from recognized authorities.
Monitoring and tracking the completion of Individual Assistance (IA) and Public Assistance (PA) joint Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDA), compiling results, processing data, and conducting analytical assessments to evaluate disaster impacts against established impact indicators. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
