This position is located at Shiprock Service Unit, Northern Navajo Medical Center (NNMC), Division of Nursing Services, Obstetric (OB) inpatient Shiprock, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to serve as a team leader and assess patients' nursing needs, develop and modify plans of care, direct and approve care, and delegate appropriate duties to ensure safe, effective, and efficient patient care.

Lead Nurse: Serves as team leader by communicating organizational goals, priorities, assignments, deadlines, and expectations; coordinates workload, monitors progress, resolves routine work issues, and ensures timely, quality completion of team tasks.
Coaches, mentors, and trains team members; facilitates problem-solving and consensus building; provides guidance to nurses and healthcare providers; and supports continuous improvement of workflows, standards of care, and team performance.
Provides specialized professional nursing care to high-risk obstetric, maternal, and newborn patients, including management of complex conditions and emergencies such as preeclampsia, hemorrhage, fetal distress, sepsis, multiple gestation, and newborn respiratory/cardiac emergencies.
Assesses patients and develops individualized plans of care by reviewing health needs and interviewing patients and families, while implementing appropriate nursing interventions to promote safe maternal and newborn outcomes. Observes patients closely, documents nursing interventions, therapeutic measures administered, the patient's reactions, patient teaching and understanding in paper form or use of Electronic Health Records.
Collaborates with physicians, midwives, and the healthcare team to monitor patient status, implement care, document interventions, and ensure safe outcomes for mother and baby.
