The Pharmacy Lead Technician is responsible for assisting in coordinating comprehensive pharmaceutical care activities in outpatient operations dispensing areas, pharmacy telephone customer care, and care in the community.
Duties include but are not limited to: Manages the Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technicians assigned to the Outpatient Pharmacy Section and Pharmacy Community Care, or an assigned area of pharmacy services, and is responsible for all activities and functions generated by this section. Responsible for planning, organizing, and reviewing work.
Responsible for scheduling Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technicians and assigning coverage to meet the daily work demands, goals of the hospital, and customer service demands. Serves as backup timekeeper and assists outpatient supervisor with tracking leave requests. Assesses workload volume throughout the day, identifying backlogs and makes staffing adjustments as needed to meet organizational goals.
Responsible for providing continuous required annual position specific competency review and training for the VA technician to maintain acceptable skills. For example, computer training and automated prescription dispensing systems. Communicate all leadership objectives from staff meetings to explain and resolve the problems to support management's policies and goals.
Serve as a liaison between pharmacists, procurement staff, and Charlotte HCC VA technicians to improve inter-professional communications and to resolve work related problems. Assist in the periodic review and development of the Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technician's functional statement supporting the organizational mission, vision, and goals.
Assist in the development of the Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technician's performance standards that are realistic, challenging, and support the organizational mission, vision and goals. Perform quality checks on administrative aspects of the outpatient pharmacy technician workstations. For example, cleanliness of work areas.
Encourage Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technicians to report actual and/or potential medication errors or adverse events, and to participate in quality improvement initiatives to promote safety. Perform the duties of a Charlotte HCC VA pharmacy technician at any time the need of the service requires it. Coordinates day-to-day maintenance and operation of pharmacy equipment and automation.
