Job Summary

The Long Beach VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for two (2) Lead Registered Respiratory Therapist positions in Medical HCG in Long Beach, CA. The incumbent will work in critical, non-critical, emergent, and clinical areas of the hospital and perform other duties within their scope of practice and as assigned by Chief/ Assistant Chief of Respiratory Care Services.

Major Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to: The Incumbent will have a great deal of independence in the performance of their duties and have full responsibility to modify the workload to accomplish the assigned duties. Assign work by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines as well as provide guidance on the therapy assignments that do not have clear precedents. Preform all aspects of Respiratory Care including but not limited to knowledge Pulmonary Special procedures conducted at the bedside, bronchoscopy suite and Operating room. Evaluate completed work for appropriateness and effectiveness in meeting goals. Available for unusual situations that do not have clear precedents or established policies. Assist staff in determining treatment options for complex patients. Complete New Employee education and competency check-offs. Assist and participate in completion of yearly competencies for all staff. Arrange in-services for new and refreshers on existing equipment throughout the year. Assist with organization and staffing of all Educational and Staff Building events.
