This position is in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Security Enterprise Services Directorate (SESD), SCI Management Division. The Division safeguards our most sensitive national security information. As the central SCI program authority, it supports the Office of the Secretary of War, WHS Directorates, Principal Staff Assistants, Boards, Task Forces, and external partners operating across the Pentagon, Mark Center, and commercial facilities.
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Serve as a senior subject-matter expert and technical authority to leadership, managing complex Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security programs by translating Intelligence Community, ODNI, and Department directives into risk-based workflows, standard operating procedures, and internal controls. Serve as a Team Leader for a group of Security Specialists by distributing workload, providing technical coaching and mentorship, monitoring progress for quality assurance, resolving team conflicts, and evaluating overall team efficiency and performance. Provide operational oversight for WHS-cognizant Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) by executing visitor and access management, coordinating specialized technical security measures (e.g., TEMPEST, TSCM), and maintaining SCIF lifecycle and accreditation documentation in strict accordance with ICD 705. Manage core Special Security Officer (SSO) duties, including processing SCI nominations, conducting risk assessments on derogatory information, leading security education and indoctrination briefings, and managing the reporting and mitigation of security incidents and unauthorized disclosures. Coordinate SCI security support for Special Access Programs (SAPs), Controlled Access Programs (CAPs), and Alternative Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM); review contract security documentation (DD Form 254); and oversee Alternate SSOs and Special Security Representatives (SSRs) by reviewing self-inspections and ensuring enterprise compliance.
