Key Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

Distributes and balances workload among employees in accordance with established workflow, priorities, and/or job specialization; assures timely accomplishment of assigned work and that each employee has an adequate workload.

Monitors the status and progress of work and makes day-to-day adjustments in assignments in accordance with established priorities; obtains assistance from the supervisor on problems that cannot be resolved at the leader level, such as significant backlogs or resource constraints. Maintains current information on workload, assignments, and production, and reports on work accomplishments, progress, and anticipated completion times, as requested by the supervisor.

Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques, and makes available written instructions, reference materials, and supplies; ensures employees are aware of and follow established procedures. Maintains a current knowledge of applicable procedures, policies, and directives, and provides technical guidance to employees; obtains needed information or clarification from the supervisor on issues not clearly covered by existing guidance.

Requirements & Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to Department of Education Accreditation page. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
