Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Office of Laboratory Systems and Response, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Key Responsibilities

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Veterinary Medical Officer (Leader), you will: Lead zoonotic disease surveillance, epidemiological investigations, and public health response activities to prevent and control emerging infectious diseases. Direct veterinary public health research programs and evaluate scientific data to support evidence-based public health decisions and policy development.

Provide expert consultation and technical guidance on zoonotic diseases, animal health, and public health preparedness to internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate domestic and international collaborations to strengthen disease surveillance systems, outbreak preparedness, and One Health initiatives.

Requirements & Education

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
