The United States Attorney's Office (USAO), Southern District of Florida (SDFL) is seeking several Legal Administrative Specialist to serve and support in one of the largest USAOs in the nation. These positions are located in various sections/divisions in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and/or Fort Pierce, Florida. This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 11, 2026.

This Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support) supports civil and/or criminal case teams by performing routine litigation support duties necessary to prepare or manage electronic discovery, evidence, exhibits, and other electronically stored information (ESI) relevant to investigations and casework, using a variety of methods and software applications.
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Legal Administrative Specialist (Litigation Support) support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Fort Pierce, Florida; Miami, Florida; West Palm Beach, Florida, focusing in the areas of litigation support; customer support; project management; case presentation and preparation.
Typical work assignments will include: Performing routine litigation support duties necessary to process common electronically stored information (ESI) (e.g., PDF files, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint files, emails, etc.) and prepare it for review or production by the case team. Performing routine litigation support tasks relating to case teams' review of common ESI.
Providing advice, customer support services, and project management services in connection with electronic discovery, litigation support projects, and litigation technology software applications. Providing technical assistance to case teams presenting or filing electronic evidence or exhibits in civil or criminal legal proceedings.
Providing trial preparation, including drafting legal documents, motions, subpoenas, creates electronic versions of exhibits for court fi lings, depositions, hearings, or trials. Managing and processing complex electronically stored information (ESI) using appropriate tools; Applying knowledge of court programs, automation requirements, and resolving problems; Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
To qualify with Superior academic achievement- : A Bachelor's degree, and one of the following: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. Class standing -- Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses.
Grade-point average (G.P.A.) -- Applicants must have a grade-point average of: 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2years of the curriculum.
To calculate creditable period for a combination education and experience: GS 7 Grade Level - A combination of experience and graduate level education can be used if, when combined, are equivalent to 100% of the qualification requirement. Only graduate level education in excess of the first full year can be used in this calculation. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.
Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
GS 9 Grade Level - To calculate your percentage of education, first determine the total number of hours that exceed 18 semester hours (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study) then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 18 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of qualifying experience, divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by 12.
Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. (Only graduate education in excess of the first full year may be used in this calculation).
GS 11 Grade Level -To calculate your percentage of graduate education, first determine the total number of graduate level hours that exceed 36 semester hours (or your school's definition of two years of graduate study), then divide the total number of your excess graduate semester hours by 36 (or your school's definition of one year of graduate study). To calculate your percentage of specialized experience, divide the total number of months of qualifying experience by 12.
Now, add the two percentages together. The sum of the percentages must equal at least 100%. All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
