The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse is assigned to the VHAPORHCS Prevention of Amputations in Veterans Everywhere (PAVE) unit, under Operative Care Division functions as a team member under the guidance of the Outpatient Procedural Services Nurse Manager.
LPN/LVN works with interdisciplinary team members and demonstrates technical proficiency in initiating, performing and completing assigned duties in providing wound and foot care to patient populations at all complexity levels and care settings while requiring minimal supervision. Provides effective education to patients and/or family members in relation to common disease processes, medication, and /or prescribed treatment regimes.
Works with the RN and/or Licensed Independent Practitioner to appropriately orient/train less experienced LPNs/ LVNs and/or Nursing Assistants (NAs)/Health Technicians (HTs) in relation to acceptable standards of practice in promoting optimal patient care delivery. The Prevention of Amputation in Veterans Everywhere (PAVE) LPN functions as a team member under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Independent Practitioner.
The incumbent is adaptable and functions with minimal direction with the ability to prioritize and adjust care in the response to clinic flow needs.
They provide patient centered care to Veterans throughout the lifespan, performing focused assessments, including patient interview, history, and chart review, providing patients and families with clinical teaching and instructions, collaborating in scheduling, and coordination of PAVE and peri-operative team members, obtaining patient care supplies and equipment.
The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to observe, identify, and respond to the patient's need for nursing care recognizing deviations from baseline.

Serves as a preceptor in orienting, educating, and training less experienced LPNs/LVNs or NAs/HTs related to support duties for these more complex, specialized tests/procedures. Actively seeks out educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills, sharing new knowledge gained with other staff to improve and advance nursing practice.
