This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Mental Health, works under the direction of the Mental Health Registered Nurse/Mental Health Assistant Nurse Manager and Mental Health Management and reports to the Mental Health Assistant Nurse Manager.
The LPN is responsible for observing, recording, and reporting changes in the veteran's mental, emotional, and physical well-being as well as assisting in coordinating care that tailored to a veteran's needs and collaborating with appropriate health providers to help improve veterans access to mental health services. The LPN serves in a generalist role to provide clinical support to the mental health interdisciplinary team.
The incumbent provides a wide range of clinical and technical services to the veteran under general supervision of the Mental Health Nurse Manager. The duties include: Checking in the patients Resolving appropriate clinical reminders Patient education Identifying high risk veterans Providing medications Providing intramuscular injections Phlebotomy duties Assisting in emergent situations, disruptive behavior veterans/crisis.
Carry out assigned patient care based on the patents' conditions; to use judgment in selecting the appropriate order and sequence of procedures and treatments; and to accurately recognize, report and record relevant patient information. Provides primary nursing and mental health care and disease screening for adults and elderly patients. Identify and respond to the patent's needs for care, including medication, equipment-assisted care and patient/family education.
Administers medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of the RN or LIP. Performs blood collection utilizing proper selection and use of equipment/supplies, and collection techniques. Performs other clinical/administrative duties as assigned.
