This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month. The primary purpose of this position is: the primary purpose of this position to serve as an Reserve technician (ART) journey-level mechanic that inspects, machines, welds, and repairs aircraft parts and components, to design and manufacture support equipment used in all types of aircraft maintenance, and to train reservists in accomplishment of tasks set forth herein. DUTIES: DUTY 1: Troubleshoots, overhauls, machines and repairs various types, and sizes of industrial plan/facilities equipment. DUTY 2: Performs complex, intricate, specialized or nonstandard machining. Performs various welding assignments. DUTY 3: Plans, develops, writes and/or updates complex coded source programs in one or two designated computer command languages. DUTY 4: Ensures compliance and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas. DUTY 5: Controls tools. Certifies work produced under the USAF Technical Order Program.
