The position provides supervision, management and leadership of engineering corrective and preventative maintenance, testing and minor improvements. The incumbent must have the knowledge and skills to solve construction, maintenance and repair issues; understand the best use of various skill and abilities of employees; and the best use of various materials, tools and equipment.
Responsible for direct supervision of WL-4701-10 Maintenance Mechanic Work Leader, one WG-5823-10 Automotive Mechanic, three WG-4206-09 Plumbers, WG-4749-09 Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-08 Maintenance Workers, WG-3502-04 Laborers and up to four Compressed Work Therapy (CWT) participants. Responsible for repair/improvements to plumbing, waste & vent systems, automotive repair, grounds equipment/materials and structural components.
Establishes priorities and deadlines based on general work schedules, methods, policies, and code requirements. Estimates and orders materials for operations, maintenance, repair, improvements plumbing, waste & vent systems, automotive repair, grounds equipment/materials and structural components. Guided by federal, state, and VA Regulations, engineering principles and trade practices and governing codes.
Participates in final inspections of all new projects concerning equipment operations/maintenance (including hospital side systems), assigned utility systems, and special equipment installations. Reviews and analyzes completed work, reviews incurred costs, and unanticipated difficulties/delays to evaluate work processes, cost controls, and to anticipate and/or avoid problems.
Develops, implements, and/or modifies methods and procedures to ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and continual improvement of operational program activities. Has the delegated authority to implement and recommend promotions, reassignments, or other status changes of subordinate personnel including overseeing attendance and leave. Inform employees about policies, procedures & management goals relating to the work of the team.
Reviews work orders and determines personnel and methods to accomplish work.
