Come work with us as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor located in the Architect of the Capitol; Superintendent, House Office Buildings; Assistant Superintendent, Facilities Support Division; Mechanical Systems Branch; Mechanical Systems Day, Evening or Night Section.
The Maintenance Mechanic General Supervisor supports general maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical equipment, utilities, electrical, fire protection suppression, alarm systems, HVAC, boiler, and steam generating equipment and electronic systems. Supervises repairs, alterations, and improvements to the building and grounds. Supervises subordinate staff of Air Conditioning (A/C) Equipment Mechanics, Industrial Equipment Mechanics, Insulators, Maintenance Mechanics, Pipefitters, Plumbers, and Welders. Supervise a group of employees performing work at the WG-11 and lower grade levels. Tour of Duty: Sunday – Thursday 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. Duties include, but are not limited to: Perform administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates to include assigning duties to, and evaluating their performance. Manage the organizational unit's budget and workload. Develop performance requirements for subordinates and ensure a mutual understanding of the performance standards. Resolve complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level supervisors. Troubleshoot faulty performance of equipment. Repair and modify equipment as needed to restore proper functioning. Repair Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and electronic sensing controls that perform centralized monitoring of the environment and non-centralized building automation systems. Repair or replace deteriorated original equipment and components with networked items. Troubleshoot, maintain, modify, and repair systems to achieve interoperability of installed Building Automation and Control Network (BACNetTM) DDCs such as AlertonTM, Automated Logic, Delta Controls, Reliable, and/or WEB Controls, and non-BACNet DDC systems. Troubleshoot and operate building automation systems such as hubs, Land Gate Routers, and Land Gate Ethernet Routers. Plan, lay out, coordinate, direct, and check the work of A/C Equipment Mechanics engaged in the operation and maintenance of commercial and industrial systems. Assist subordinates in dismantling, repairing, and reassembling pumps, impellers, compressors, chillers, receivers, and evaporators. Plan, lay out, coordinates, perform, direct, and check the work of Plumbers, Pipefitters, and Industrial Equipment Mechanics who install, modify, and repair fixtures, fittings, and pipes of heating and A/C systems, fixtures, water lines, plumbing and sewers. Plan, lay out, coordinate, direct, and check the work of lower level Maintenance Mechanic Workers and Helpers assisting higher level workers. Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of supplies, materials, tools, and equipment. Perform other related duties as assigned. .
