This vacancy is for a WG-4749-10, Maintenance Mechanic located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SECTOR SAN DIEGO ENGINEERING/SUPPORT DIVISION in SAN DIEGO, California.
You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic and be responsible for performing a variety of tasks involved in the upkeep of buildings, grounds and related structures, fixtures, and utilities. The functions are performed in at least two trades, with the highest journeyman level in one of the following: electrical, air conditioning, and pipefitting. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Performing air conditioning equipment mechanic work involving major repairs, overhaul, maintenance, and troubleshooting on interrelated environment control systems, composed of individual subsystems. Interrelating with management, engineers, other technicians, manufacturers, suppliers, and customers in developing modifications, new assemblies, substitutions of corrections to equipment to increase life expectancy, reduce breakdowns and simplify repairs, servicing, and operations. Performing pipefitting work to include planning and laying out work utilizing blueprints or sketches as provided; determining required tools and estimates necessary materials such as pipe, fittings and the sizes, types, or lengths required for the job. Performing electrician work installing, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining a variety of electrical equipment and systems.
