The primary purpose of this position is to This is a developmental position leading to HVAC/R, WG-4749-10, SCPD 9W077, performing work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of large/complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems and support equipment.
- Receives developmental assignments in reading blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, work orders, and in planning and laying out work. - Assists higher grade worker in troubleshooting HVAC/R systems with complex problems and extensive repairs requiring judgment to locate malfunctions.
- Repairs and maintains a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems and receives developmental assignments working with large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning (AC), and cooling systems with complex problems and extensive repairs.
Installs, repairs, and maintains a variety of uncomplicated heating equipment and systems, and receives developmental assignments working with complex heating boilers and/or heating systems, single and multiple fuel power boilers, and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment. - Under guidance from higher grade mechanic performs basic electrical work incidental to the maintenance and operation of HVAC/R systems.
Receives training/developmental assignments in performing preventive maintenance on HVAC/R systems and equipment. - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
