Job Summary

You will serve as a Maintenance Worker This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition at management's discretion. $27.42 Per Hour (Step 01) to $31.99 Per Hours (Step 05). First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Major Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Performs basic regular preventative maintenance tasks independently (changing filters, inspection and testing of control valves/dampers, adjusting building automation control parameters) Assists in minor repairs and maintenance of ventilation fans, boilers and chiller equipment Operates and maintains water and wastewater treatment plant systems. Collects water samples in accordance with proper procedures for sample collections as part of facility water and waste water permits Responds to faults in facility operating systems when notified by automated management system during normal business hours and after-hours as part of an after-hours on-call rotation system Performs general grounds maintenance and grounds upkeep, including summer lawn maintenance and winter snow removal Performs minor electrical repairs, including troubleshooting basic electrical circuits, replace light switches, light fixtures and circuit breakers Performs basic plumbing repairs, including replacing faucet and toilet water valves, identifying and repairing water leaks, and maintaining facility water softener systems Performs general maintenance including painting and light carpentry as needed

Education

There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.
