The primary purpose of the Maintenance Worker is to perform recurring building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties and to assist journeymen and other higher graded maintenance workers. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Seasonal Staffing Office-Midwest Regional Office and Networks/Mabo is February - August, but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: February - April 2027.
Some of the Maintenance Worker Standard Duties include but are not limited to: Perform maintenance and repair work involving facilities, structures, grounds, trails, and other developed areas using a variety of hand tools, power tools, materials, vehicles, and equipment. Perform painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, grounds maintenance, custodial work, and other general maintenance activities appropriate to the grade level.
Follow work orders, instructions, safety requirements, and established procedures to complete assigned maintenance work and document completed work or identified maintenance needs. Operate and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment used to transport personnel, supplies, materials, tools, and equipment and to accomplish maintenance activities.
Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb, and work in awkward positions. Working Conditions: Exposed to a variety of seasonal weather conditions while working outdoors (temperatures -40 to 90+ degrees).
Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposed to dust, dirt, wind, and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paints, solvents, etc. May be exposed to electrical shocks, and biting insects.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Federal Wage System (FWS) positions.

The posted pay range is $26.13 – $30.48/hr.
