Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Accountability, will allow you to utilize your expertise in providing analysis of internal and external audit work products on a wide range of programs. This position starts at a salary of $121,785.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10) . In this Management and Program Analyst (Audit) position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in maintaining broad-based audit oversight program that provide leadership with information concerning performance and effectiveness of operations and management; providing leadership with diagnostic tools to measure overall health of the organization and to identify deficiencies; working on a wide range of projects and studies involving broad and in-depth analysis and evaluation; serving as a subject matter expert on audits; developing and delivering briefing and presentations; and developing audit responses and authoritative guidance. Typical work assignments include: Serving as the principal authority and lead strategist for independently conducting and interpreting highly complex, cross-cutting programmatic and operational issues identified through internal and external audits impacting CBP, DHS, and government-wide programs. Providing expert leadership and authoritative guidance in the strategic analysis of audit processes, offering critical advice on complex program issues related to the conduct, monitoring, and oversight of audits, ensuring alignment with generally accepted government auditing standards. Independently leading and meticulously coordinating CBP's responses to audit findings and recommendations, ensuring that all responses are comprehensive, timely, and strategically aligned with the overarching goals and objectives of both CBP and DHS. Preparing and presenting high-level reports, detailed analyses, and concise briefings for senior executives and officials (e.g., Senior Executive Service (SES) members, political appointees) on the current status of audits, the progress of resolution efforts, and the effectiveness of corrective actions implemented. Serving as a senior advisor to CBP and DHS executive leadership, providing strategic counsel and directing recommendations on high-profile audits, their potential operational implications, and reputational risks.
