Typical duties include: Advises OTR management on major CBP trade programs, and acts as a liaison to key external stakeholders to disseminate information and solicit feedback. Reviews and evaluates policies in assigned areas of responsibility by conducting research and using management theories. Plans, conducts, or participates in special studies on CBP and industry task forces, committees, and working groups and provides expert assistance to headquarters and field office staff. Serves as the expert/advisor when representing OTR and CBP at meetings and conferences as directed by OTR Executive Director and/or Deputy Executive Director. Develops and prepares briefing memoranda issue/concept papers and other supporting documentation to prepare OTR management, Deputy Commissioner, and Commissioner for meetings, conferences, and other events, and ensures information is accurate, concise, and timely. Evaluates new and proposed trade legislation, executive orders, DHS and/or CBP directives and other agency decisions for their effect on external trade stakeholders. Prepares talking points and impact statements for management's consideration.
