This position is located in the Office of Policy & Program Analysis, Enterprise Analytics Division, Data Enablement Branch. The ideal candidate is a data management and analytics professional who applies data practices, quantitative analysis, and clear communication to turn complex information into actionable insights that strengthen FEMA programs and decisions.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will lead the development and application of data-management practices that improve the quality, accessibility, consistency, and appropriate use of data supporting program and operational decisions. Typical assignments include: Identifying internal and external data management policies, procedures, systems, and practices that affect agency programs and operations.
Developing and implementing data standards, metadata, taxonomies, models, and guidance to promote consistency, interoperability, reuse, and effective data sharing. Conducting qualitative and quantitative analyses to assess program performance, operational effectiveness, resource utilization, and progress toward strategic objectives.
Developing performance measures, data products, and analytical methods that help leaders monitor outcomes, identify risks or trends, and make evidence-informed decisions. Collaborating with program offices, technical staff, contractors, and other stakeholders to define data requirements, resolve data-quality issues, integrate information from multiple sources, and provide recommendations to senior officials. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
