Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Tucson Field Office, Mission Support Division, Workforce Management located in Tucson, Arizona. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Joining Customs & Border Protection will allow you to use your expertise to provide management advice regarding the improvement and assessment of core processes and the implementation of programs and policies related to Workforce Management. This position starts at a salary of $76,095.00 (GS-11, Step 1) to $118,569.00 (GS-12, Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by developing policies, conducting special studies, and providing technical assistance. Typical work assignments include: Developing and recommending improvements in services; participating on teams and/or projects involved in the redesigning, automating, and re-engineering of processes in order to meet the varied and changing requirements of the field office. Researching and advising on significant personnel program changes or developments. Developing options that take advantage of special hiring authorities and programs when appropriate for local needs. Assisting the executive staff in the development of field office policy and recommends changes to improve service. Advising the Director, Field Operations, Port Directors, and other field managers in formulating realignment and/or reorganization proposals related to improvement efforts in the core process in order to organize work in the most efficient and effective manner given local conditions.
