What are the Major Duties of this Position? The Surgical Technician located in the Health Services Department at the Federal Correctional Complex, Butner, North Carolina. Acts as a member of the patient care team during surgical intervention. Set up the OR suite with the circulating nurse, providing aseptic technique guarding against pathogenic microorganisms from the operating room sterile field and surgical wound.
Works with the Surgeon, Anesthesiologist, and Anesthetist and Registered Nurses as a member of the patient care team during surgical intervention. Maintains a bacteria free, safe physical environment for patients and fellow workers in accordance with established hospital infection control standards. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
