The Medical Supply Tech (Sterile Processing) position is located within the Sterile Processing Service at the Lubbock Veterans Affairs Clinic in Lubbock, Texas.
Duties include but are not limited to: Provides sterilization, preparation, supply items and reusable medical device decontamination and distribution support for the Medical Center. Possess knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Devices. Maintains current knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of Reusable Medical Devices.
Supply items include both disposable and reusable items for patient care including instrumentation (Scissors, forceps, retractors, etc.) reusable medical devices (Suction machines infusion pumps, etc.) surgical trays and sets and various other items. Alternates between a contaminated environment and a carefully controlled clean environment. Wears special clothing, hair covers, personal protective equipment and shoe covers.
