This position will be located within the North Florida/South Georgia VA Health Care System at the Andrew K. Baker Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Patient Aligned Care Team. Work in a clinical laboratory providing diagnostic functions to include blood-drawing procedures and specimen processing, provide technical and supportive assistance to medical personnel and team members and assist with providing continuity of care for patients of all ages.
Major Duties include but not limited to: Receives request for testing into the laboratory. Recognizes emergency situations and takes necessary action. Perform arrange of diagnostic support studies such as taking and labeling specimens for the laboratory. Adheres to safety, infection control and universal precautions at all times while drawing blood. Explains procedures to patients prior to performing. Receives and relays incoming telephone calls as well as electronic messages. Maintains the blood drawing room, including the replacement of supplies as needed. Assists clinicians when needed by performing (but not limited to) EKG's. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and prepares for next patient encounters if assigned area requires it.
