This vacancy is for a GS - 0963 - 7/8/9, Merchant Mariner Application Professional Qualification Evaluator located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NMC PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION EVALUATION SECTION II in MARTINSBURG, West Virginia.

Major Duties

You will serve as a Merchant Mariner Application Professional Qualification Evaluator and be responsible for providing qualification evaluations and determining applicant eligibility for vessel operation credentials. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Reviewing Merchant Mariner applications for issuance of requested Merchant Mariner credentials. Providing highly accurate written and oral communications to maritime schools, academies, professional organizations, applicants, and agencies regarding credentialing regulations, processes, and production Determining the applicability and reasonableness of legal guidelines against individual mariner history in accordance with 46 CFR and other applicable resources.. Determining eligibility of qualified endorsements and drafts Merchant Mariner Credentials for issuance. Enforcing quality assurance compliance across all tasks in accordance with Coast Guard Quality Management System protocols.
