You will serve as a Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Engine) and be responsible for performing the content review, approval, and oversight of training courses, programs, instructors, assessors, designated examiners and examination proctors and develops and administers knowledge-based competency examinations for all credentialed U.S. Merchant Mariners.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.
Typical work assignments include: Evaluating and approving maritime training courses and programs for regulatory compliance. Analyzing and interpreting maritime laws, regulations, and policies relevant to mariner credentialing. Developing and recommending solutions for issues affecting course approval and mariner licensing. Communicating complex regulatory requirements clearly in written and oral formats.
Preparing professional correspondence and technical material on maritime training and credentialing. Student Loan: Selectee(s) for this position who are newly appointed to a permanent or term position may be eligible for student loan repayment up to $10,000 (pre-tax) for one calendar year. Receipt of this incentive will require a three-year service agreement.
