The primary purpose of this position is to: Acquire the information necessary to classify and prioritize emergency and non-emergent calls and provide firefighting, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), service calls, HazMat and other emergency response resources to the public by answering emergency 911 calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment. Performs Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) services to callers with medical emergencies using the local authority's emergency medical dispatch system. Provides emergency 911-call taking and communication services. Operates and maintains communication devices, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, security monitoring and other devices installed in the Emergency Communications Center. Maintain reports and retrieves needed statistical information using the local authority's fire incident reporting system(s).
