The purpose of this position is to operate one or more types of gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles typically with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 26,000 and up to 32,000 pounds or capable of carrying 16 or more passengers regardless of GVW.
Drives on public roads in a full range of traffic conditions to transport cargo and/or passengers.
Key Responsibilities
- Drives one or more types of heavy vehicles, such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, trash/garbage trucks, or dump trucks, which are typically equipped with air brakes. - Drives one or more types of buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers. Drives predetermined and/or scheduled routes or special runs.
- Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation. - Maintains records and documents actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports. - Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
