Job Summary

West Palm Beach VA Medical Center is looking for Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor who will work within Facilities Management Service. They are responsible for leading and performing fleet and motor vehicle operations in support of patient transportation, staff movement, and facility operations. The position ensures vehicles are properly scheduled, maintained, and operated safely and efficiently to meet mission requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Motor Vehicle Operator Supervisor Plans, schedules, and coordinates short-term, recurring, and project-based fleet operations supporting patient transportation, staff movement, and facility operations. Planning involves daily dispatch schedules, weekly workload balancing, and monthly/quarterly review of vehicle utilization, maintenance cycles, and staffing needs.

Determines the types and number of workers required, including Motor Vehicle Operators and Work Leader staff, based on workload demands, patient transport requirements, and operational priorities. Additional Duties Include But Not Limited To: Plans use of resources including vehicles (sedans, vans, buses, specialty transport vehicles), fuel, maintenance services, and budgeted funds.

Coordinates with internal services and external vendors to ensure availability of vehicles and repair services. Adjust plans to accommodate vehicle downtime, emergency transport requests, staffing shortages, and fluctuating workload conditions. Planning for a single functional unit (fleet operations) that supports multiple services across the medical center and associated clinics. Establish work schedules, set priorities, and adjust operations to meet mission requirements.

Assign work to subordinate employees based on workload priorities, complexity of assignments, and employee capabilities. Provides technical direction on vehicle operations, dispatching procedures, preventive maintenance coordination, and safety requirements. Develops and implements work methods and procedures for efficient fleet utilization and transportation support.

Reviews work in progress and complete work through reports, direct observation, and feedback from service lines to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with VA policies and federal regulations. Coordinates work with other departments including clinical services, logistics, and maintenance to ensure transportation needs are met without disruption to patient care.
