This position is in Supply Chain Management (SCM) in a Veteran Affairs Health Care System (VA HCS) and supported catchment area. The primary purpose of this position is transporting Veterans, visitors, staff and supplies and equipment from the main warehouse to various locations at an assigned Veterans Administration medical facility and any additional location, i.e., Outpatient Clinic (s), National Cemetery, and VA Regional office, as needed.
Major duties and responsibilities include: Receive work assignment and direction regarding work methods, procedures and schedules from either the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Mobility Manager. Arrive at and depart from pickup and discharge points at scheduled times. Reading installation maps and judge road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route. Enforce passenger safety and seatbelt use.
Using multiple variations of Mobile Data Computer (MDC) in and out of the vehicles for assigned trips and duties daily. Loading and unloading patients and medical supplies. Perform operator maintenance such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation.
Maintain records and document actions, such as operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports. Use a two-way radio (or other device) to maintain communicate with dispatcher/supervisor on assignments and locations. Possess a Class C drivers license. Performs other related duties as assigned.
