This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the grounds and turf of golf course in playing condition.
Responsible for the general care and upkeep of golf tees, fairways, bunkers, hazards, putting greens, golf flags, sand traps, and other facilities on golf courses, lawn bowling greens, and other special lawn areas. Oversees and guides lower level employees in the cutting and watering of course. Helps in diagnosing lawn and grass diseases, and applies proper curative treatments. Rakes sand traps, and replaces with fresh sand as may be required. May operate a variety of vehicles and or tractors, using attachments to till, cultivate and grade new turf areas. Cuts turf on green and tee areas using hand and power mower. Connects hose and sprinkler systems at designated points to irrigate turf. Ensures areas are policed and that trash and garbage are disposed of properly. Performs other related duties as assigned.
