Job Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Situational Awareness (OSA). The primary purpose of this position is to provide the National Operations Center (NOC) continuous onsite Senior Level judgment, experience, and authority of a 24/7 watch consisting of representatives of DHS, Intelligence Community, Law Enforcement, Department of Defense, other critical Federal Departments and State and Local partners.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

Key Responsibilities

As a National Operations Center (NOC) Duty Director, GS-0301-15, your typical work assignments may include: Monitoring the developing situation until a decision is made to stand-down or elevate the level of incident response, possibly resulting in a National IMAT activation, UCG, department working group, or other incident management entity assuming primary reporting responsibility.

Overseeing incident management handoff between the National Operations Center (NOC) and any other incident management entity, assuming primary reporting responsibility. Serving as final quality control and release authority for all distributed NOC products. Providing daily executive briefings to Senior DHS leaders including Secretary, Deputy Secretary, S1/S2 Chiefs of Staff, S1/S2 Deputy Chief of Staffs, and the Secretary's counselors.
