Job Summary

The Non-Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. Key Responsibilities

Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Functions as a proficient clinician and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or overseeing direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.

Has responsibility and accountability for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader. Drafts schedules and leave for final approval by the Nurse Manager. Provides input into the performance of employees with the final evaluation completed by the Nurse Manager.

Assists with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment. Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the Nurse Manager who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice.

Oversees work assignments and providing reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the Nurse Manager with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions. Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes an environment accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.

Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. All other duties as assigned.
