Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position: NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-11, is to establish, engage in nondestructive tester (NDT) specialties of X-ray, Ultrasonic, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant and Magnetic Particle inspections.

Provide 2-D, 3-D cross-sectional image radiography images of rocket motors and items required to support the missile maintenance Mission.

Key Responsibilities

-Receive and interpret requests or instructions to CT Stage 1-, 2- and 3-Minute Man and Stage 1, 2 and 3 Peacekeeper rocket motors and small munitions. -Performed requires a high degree of skilled workmanship that includes drawing, work instruction, and specification interpretation, the critical inspection of components and knowledge of their related function.

-Perform inspections of aircraft, engine, missile, ground support equipment, etc., parts, components, support equipment structural members, components, parts, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available. -Support equipment-structural members, components, parts, and other materials for which inspection procedures and/or acceptability standards are inadequate or not available.

-Work with Quality Assurance and Engineering to establish test standards by modifying and interpolating test indications, relying on experience with material qualities, item geometry, similar structures, and the capacities and peculiarities of the test equipment used.
