The Veterans Affairs Oklahoma City Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse/Nurse Manager for Nursing, Acute Care providing or supervising direct patient care. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate delivery of care based on age specific components. They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Supervises and directs orientation, training, development of staff and evaluation of individual staff performance.

Demonstrates specialized knowledge and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components.
Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Delivers self-directed, professional nursing practice using the nursing process for complex patients based on conscious and deliberate planning with occasional supervision. Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients.
Demonstrates knowledge over a wide range of job responsibilities, effectively communicating with individuals and groups to build a strong sense of teamwork and purpose. Shares knowledge and learning opportunities that enhance current nursing practice and self-evaluation for self and others on the team.
Applies evidence-based practice/research, considering patient preferences, to improve quality of care and resource utilization, participating in established improvement activities. Meets the needs of the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran's representative, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff and other customers while supporting VA missions.
Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: 0730 - 1600 or varies based on needs.
