The Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse works in Acute Care Nursing Services within the SAM (Surgical and Medical) Department and executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience and creative approaches to management of complex patient care.
Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the setting. Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization.
Integrates knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations. Validates understanding of the rationale for care processes and decisions. Questions clinical practices for the purpose of providing evidence-based care. Demonstrates the ability to cope with and manage competing priorities. Demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills.
Independently plans and delivers technically competent care to patients with complex needs in alignment with the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Provides and directs others in Veteran/patient driven care that optimizes the patient's experience, satisfaction, and/or safety for a team of patients. Demonstrates knowledge over a wide range of job responsibilities, effectively communicating with individuals and groups to build a strong sense of teamwork and purpose.
Shares knowledge and learning opportunities that enhance current nursing practice for self and others. Models the application of evidence-based practice/research with peers to improve patient care.
