Job Summary

The Marion VA Health Care System in Marion, IL is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant to join our Community Living Center within Nursing Service located in Marion, IL.

Key Responsibilities

The Nursing Assistant may perform these duties in a variety of health care settings such as outpatient, inpatient, home, or community living care, acute, subacute. The Nursing Assistant will care patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions.

Assigned Duties, Functions, And Responsibilities: Utilizes blood glucose monitoring equipment appropriately and with infection control and lab instruction to obtain Provides direct patient/resident care for veterans with complex care needs Make observations of subtle changes in patient/resident conditions Documents care given Responds to appropriately to subtle patients/residents changes by contacting appropriate nursing personnel Administers complete tracheostomy care, including suctioning Initiates basic life support (BLS) interventions when action is appropriate Participates in maintaining a clean, safe environment for the patient/resident Monitors and documents patient intake and output, reports deviations in a timely accurate manner to appropriate nursing personnel PLEASE NOTE: These positions require Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

If selected, Applicants will provide proof of current certifications prior to employment. Only BLS certification which included Automated External Defibrillator (AED) obtained from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the Military Treatment Training Network (MTN) will be accepted. The incumbent may be required to rotate tours and duties during low/high census or complete administrative tasks established by the immediate supervisor.

Work Schedule: 7:30am - 8:00pm - 7:30pm - 8:00am Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
